The camera on my phone has such shitty resolution that it isn't even funny. I've taken several shots of the fires with it but they're just a big blur for anything more than a few meters away. Anyway here's a view of the Green Wattle Creek fire (in back) and the Colong Stock Rte. fire (in front) by somebody with a better camera just up the street. This is what it looked like out my window 2 days ago. Since then both fires merged and now it's all just one big fire. We expect them to merge with the Kowmung River fire today or tomorrow and the Ruined Castle fire in a few days. Eventually they will probably all merge with the Gospers Mountain fire - and the Blue Mountains Wilderness will just be a story we tell our kids about.
Oh, and that stretch of moonscape in the foreground "should" be luscious green barley grass knee high all the way to Gundagai and full of kangaroos. At least it was until about 2015. Then everything changed.
