'Wai' translates to 'fresh water' in Hawaiian, and 'wai wai' means 'wealth'. In our culture, both water and bounty of the 'aina (land which feeds and sustains) is communal and cannot be hoarded for private profit. This system was tainted by capitalist colonization.
