Does anyone else gets always recommended right wing videos under completely unrelated IT & tech #videos on youtube? Happening to me since a few weeks. often some Jordan #Peterson bullshit & something about covid / vaccines.
They are also there if I use https://invidious.snopyta.org .
I know that #youtube is known for promoting and leading to right wing #conspiracy theory videos, but now its nearly always under some IT videos, not under science & physics videos.

I have a feeling that invidious is very popular among right wing tech enthusiasts, because there are quite a few openly right wing or conservative open source influencers like Luke Smith, Distrotube or Kris Ochipinti that recommend invidious.

@thanatos Do they recommend invidious? Or do you mean that invidious recommends them to you because they are the most watched/subscribed ones?
Im asking because by using invidios you dont see any ads and thus the creators would get less money. Or do they reley on Patreon and Donations since their Videos would get demonitized?

I don't think invidious recommends anything, it just shows the videos most searched via invidious. That's why I thought that invidious might be more frequently used by a more conservative audience.

I don't know if you have to watch the stuff on YouTube directly for it to be monetized or if accessing the direct files on googlevideo is enough...

@thanatos monetization can be activated by the channel owner. If activated ads are shown as many times as the creator wishes during the video. If using invidius or an adblocker the creator gets no money by you watching his videos. (However by watching a Video you make that video more likely to be recommended to others.)

In that case, invidious themselves wouldn't have any incentive to favour channels by genuine YouTube algorithms.
