Zorka Ságlová, Seno-slama [Hay Straw], August 1969, installation hay, straw, Vaclava Spaly Gallery, Prague, Photo Jan Ságl
In 1969, Zorka Saglova brought hay and straw into renowned gallery in the centre of Prague. They piled the hay in the evening and raked it again in the morning. Crickets chirped in the gallery. People were stunned, some said "I've never been in the gallery, if this is an art, I will start going." The Socialist Artists' Union wanted to close the exhibition and Zorka later faced expulsion. She was able to position rural work as an art.
