How to Utilize Nomadic Identity on Hubzilla<br /><br />Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines "nomad" as:<br /><br /> a member of a people who have no fixed residence but move from place to place usually seasonally and within a well-defined territory<br /><br />Nomadic identity on Hubzilla is one of its strong plus points. It allows you to use your channel from any other instance than the original one. Just like real life nomads would, you can move from instances to instances. No matter where you go you have the same nomadic identity, so it works for you as if you were using the original instance. Even the sidebar shows your channel name with your original instance name. It's crazy and amazing at the same time. Your followers won't even notice any difference and will see the same channel address too.<br /><br />One of the best plus points advertised, is that you can use the cloned channel even if the original instance is down. It will just update your original channel when it's back online. Not bad, right?<br /><br />I think if you have anything serious going on for a channel, you should setup nomadic identity for it. In case something happens to the original instance, you have a backup. And the best thing is, it keeps all your followers intact and you can do anything your original channel can. If you choose to move permanently, they'll not have to re-follow you again.

#Nomadic #identity is probably the toughest thing to get an explanation for on the internet. But it's so useful and important I wonder why other #Fediverse protocols don't have that except #Zot.
