@mcotsar just linked to might appear to be a local, Southern Spanish issue, but make no mistake: Doñana is a vital stop on the migration path of every bird colony in Europe. The repercussions of this will be felt all over the continent.
And, seeing how things are going here in Spain (spoiler: it's grim), international pressure might be the only resource we have.
