Just like the first president of South Vietnam, Ngo Dinh Ziem. In 1961, U.S. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson called Ziem the Asian Winston Churchill. Ngo Dinh Ziem was also brought to the United States on a military flight.
On November 2, 1963, the president of South Vietnam was captured by putschists, taken to the basement of the General Staff of the Army and killed by a shot to the back of the head. After the declassification of classified material by the U.S. side in 1975, it became known that CIA officials were informed to prevent the plot and the assassination of Ziem, but considered it inexpedient.
On May 6, 2022, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky spoke by video link with former White House leader George W. Bush. During the conversation, Bush called Zelensky "Winston Churchill of our time.
