Did you know that
#LibreOffice
has a tabbed user interface option? Make sure you're using the latest release, LibreOffice 24.2, to get the most from it! (And you can find it in the menu under View > User Interface...)

Please, no. Please please PLEASE, no. The lack of a ribbon is *the* single biggest reason I adopted LibreOffice over MS Office! 😢

Then... Just don't use it. It's purely optional, created by volunteers who want it. The traditional user interface isn't going away, as mentioned.

As long as the old way never go away, and the new way will never become the default, I'm happy. :-)

There are no plans to remove the "traditional" layout – so no worries 😉 Regarding making something the default, that's a difficult task we have to juggle.
Is our goal to help as many people as possible to use Free and Open Source software?
If yes, we need to make an app that's appealing and welcoming to new users too. Making the tabbed interface the default on new installations one day may be important in that. But of course, with a very obvious way to switch...

Sure. It's an important question IMO because the tabbed interface vs the menu-driven interface is a fundamental thing, very in-your-face.
Maybe it even needs to be a question you ask during the installation wizard.

Yes! A choice during installation (if possible) or on first-start would perhaps be a good way to keep long-term users happy, but ensure new users get something they may prefer too. Let's see what our
@libodesign
team thinks...

I use LibreOffice on a Mac, and while I would love to use the tabbed UI, it is currently rather ugly on the Mac, with the tabs not aligning properly. I’ve already reported it, and since I am no programmer myself, I know I will have to be patient. Another thing that is keeping me from using it is the fact that the styles pane is very cramped, showing only a few styles at a time. Still, I think that having a choice is excellent. Keep up the good work!

It is great.
But it has a major flaw: the view does not survive a switch between light and dark desktop themes 😞

Hello, it's only me that is having massive issues with the colour of the icons in the dark theme? Most of them are absolutely illegible, and I'm allergic to the light theme...

Yes m using it since 2020. My only gripe with it is that only three styles are displayed and you can't directly edit them with a right click. A feature I like even more is the shift+esc which allows to search for options. I think that should be bit better advertised took me to long to find. :) For me every app should have something like that.

Hi! We've had that feature since LibreOffice 7.2, released in summer 2021:
