In short, using Discord for your free software/open source (FOSS) software project is a very bad idea. Free software matters — that’s why you’re writing it, after all. Using Discord partitions your
community on either side of a walled garden, with one side that’s willing to use the proprietary Discord client, and one side that isn’t. It sets up users who are passionate about free software — i.e.
your most passionate contributors or potential contributors — as second-class citizens.

Is there anyone here in the #Fediverse who would like to take over an established #Friendica server? I think you'll need a quad or octo core 16-32 GB RAM server/VPS. It has about 100 users, not too many that active.

So if you always wanted to run your own server this is a good chance.

I will support with migration and setup if help is needed.

@linus @b847c1960 I am not sure, the amount of data is more of a problem, when you receive thousands of post and photos a day it fills up the database a lot. I guess for the beginning a Raspberry Pi 3 equivalent has plenty of resources, but after 2...3 years it might not be sufficient anymore.
Unless there is many dead accounts and very short duration public posts a kept. My databases a fairly big after 6 years and (other server) 3 years and require quite some RAM and to reach page loading times of 200ms also some computing power.
